Football Strengthens Its Roster With Three More Transfers

Pemberton, Rodas, and Smith are joining the Warriors.

DETROIT -- With the 2026 football team reporting in two days, we will continue doing articles on the newcomers.  This fifth batch of transfers include fullback Kyshaun Pemberton (Warwick, R.I. / Rogers [Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College]), kicker Ryan Rodas [City College of San Francisco]) and cornerback Ka'Vion Smith (Holly, Mich. [Lawrence Tech]).

Kyshaun Pemberton, FB, 5-9, 205, Sr., Warwick, R.I. / Rogers (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College)
2025:  Attended Rochester (Minn.) Community and Technical College, but did not see any game action.

2024:  Took a gap year.

2023:  Attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

2022:  Was a member of the football team at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, a junior college in Miami, Okla.

2021:  Took a gap year.

High School:  A 2021 graduate of Rogers High School in Newport, R.I. ... was a three-year varsity letterwinner for coach Frank Newsome ... earned Team Offensive MVP honors for the Vikings ... competed in track for RHS in the 100m dash (11.93) and 200m dash (24.20) as well as the 4x100m relay.

Personal:  Full name -- Kyshaun Pemberton ... born on November 27, 2001, in Saint Martin ... son of Heidi Kramers and Bernard Pemberton ... has five brothers, Kamalie, Kvorn, Kirmani, Khaleef and Benji, and three sisters, Thalia, Kamalia and Kiana ... Kamalie played at Thomas More in 2025 ... Kvorn totaled 47 tackles in 10 games in 2025 for NCAA Division 3 Dean College ... has two children, Xylae and Xuri ... plans to major in Sport Management.

Ryan Rodas, PK, 5-9, 160, Jr., Novato, Calif. / San Marin (City College of San Francisco)
2025:  Played in 11 games for the City College of San Francisco of the 3C2A (California Community College Athletic Association) ... connected on 9-of-12 field goal attempts with a long of 43 yards in a win over Sierra ... made all 37 PAT attempts to score 64 points ... recorded a season-best six PATs in a 48-28 win over Sierra ... tallied two made field goals in back-to-back contests (29-28 win vs. Fresno and Sierra) ... made two other field goals over 40 yards - 42 yards against Fresno and 41 yards at San Mateo.

2024:  Appeared in 10 games for the CCSF Rams ... made 4-of-5 field goal attempts and all 31 PAT attempts in scoring 43 points ... connected on a season-long 39-yard field goal in a victory over San Joaquin Delta ... totaled a season-high eight points with five PATs and a 33-yard field goal in a triumph at Laney ... also made five PATs in a 43-35 setback at Sierra.

2023-24:  Took a gap year.

High School:  A 2023 graduate of San Marin High School ... lettered as a senior for coach Dominic Dimare ... helped the Mustangs to a 13-2 record in 2022 and a California 4-A state title by connecting on all five field goal attempts and 61 of 64 PAT attempts ... earned Second Team All-MCAL (Marin County Athletic League) recognition ... was a goalkeeper on the SMHS soccer squad ... served as a team captain for the Mustang soccer team.

Personal:  Full name -- Ryan Rodas ... born on April 13, 2005, in San Francisco ... son of Imar and Idalia Rodas ... has an older brother, Denilso ... plans to major in Criminal Justice.

Ka'Vion Smith, CB, 6-2, 180, R-So., Holly, Mich. / Holly (Lawrence Tech)
2025:  Played in seven games as a redshirt freshman for the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils ... totaled 10 tackles (7-3) ... made a season-high three solo stops against Saint Xavier ... notched pass break-ups vs. Judson and Indiana Wesleyan.

2024:  Redshirted as a true freshman at Lawrence Tech University.

High School:  A 2024 graduate of Holly High School ... was a three-year team letterwinner for coaches Dallas Lesperance (2021) and Billy Keenist (2022-23) ... also played basketball for the Bronchos and coach Steve DeHart ... served as a basketball team captain in 2024 ... earned Second Team All-Flint Metro League honors in basketball as a senior after garnering Honorable Mention accolades as a junior.

Personal:  Full name -- Ka'Vion Smith ... born on August 10, 2006, in Pontiac, Mich. ... son of Kevin and Sheniece Smith ... plans to major in Business Data Analytics.
