Former Warrior A.J. Erard is serving as a graduate assistant coach for the 2008-09 season.
2007-08: NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP: Earned two Honorable Mention All-America accolades ... came in 14th in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.81) and 15th in the 400 individual medley (4:08.63) ... placed 28th in the preliminary 200 individual medley (1:55.62). GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIP: Won the 400 individual medley for the third time in his career (4:05.37) ... finished third in the 200 breaststroke (2:07.79). SEASON: Named GLIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week (Dec. 3) after earning three NCAA qualifiers at the Eastern Michigan Invitational ... eclipsed the national "A" standard with a second-place finish in the 400 individual medley (4:03.19) and claimed "B" cuts in the 200 individual medley (1:55.33) and 200 breaststroke (2:07.49), placing third and fourth respectively.
2006-07: NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP: Earned First Team All-America honors in the 400 individual medley after finishing seventh (4:05.06) and garnered Honorable Mention accolades for his 14th-place time of 1:54.95 in the 200 I.M. ... placed 19th in the preliminary round of the 200 breaststroke (2:09.85). GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIP: Finished third in the 400 individual medley (4:09.90) and ninth in the 200 I.M. (1:57.46) ... also took eighth in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.62) ... swam in the preliminary 200 free relay (1:32.93 - 7th) and 400 medley relay (3:43.64 - 4th).
2005-06: NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP: Earned All-America First Team honors in the 400 IM, placing third with a time of 4:02.79 ... also a three-time honorable mention All-American, placing 13th in the 200 IM (1:55.92) and 14th in the 200 breaststroke ... swam the third leg on the 800 free relay team, which placed 14th with a time of 7:03.38. GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIP: Won the 200 IM (1:53.51 - pool record) and 400 IM (4:02.30 - pool record) at the GLIAC Championship earning 20 points in each event ... second straight year was 400 IM conference champion ... finished third in the 200 breast (2:09.01) earning 16 points.
2004-05: NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP: A three-time All-America honorable mention recipient ... won B-final of the 400 IM in a WSU varsity record time of 4:01.50 for ninth place ... also lowered his own varsity record in 200 IM during prelims (1:55.32) ... swam breastroke leg of the 200 Medley Relay (16th place) and 400 Medley Relay (14th place) for the Warriors. GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIP: Named 2005 GLIAC Men's Freshman of the Year ... conference champion in the 400 IM (4:04.17) .. also earned five more First Team All-GLIAC honors: third place in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.70) and fourth in the 200 IM (1:56.02) ... a member of the second-place 400 medley relay (3:29.75), the third-place 200 medley relay (1:36.41), and the third-place 800 free relay team (6:57.89).
High School: A 2004 graduate of Royal Oak Shrine ... also attended University of Detroit Jesuit for two years ... swam two years each at Royal Oak Shrine and U of D ... swims for the Oakland Live Y'ers and coach Jeff Cooper ... swam the 500 free in 4:50.28 at the 2002 Michigan 13 & Over State Championship ... swam a 9:50.01 for the 1000 free and 16:29.14 for the 1650 free at the 2002 Central Zone Sectional ... awarded a MEAP scholarship.
