Christina Green Duncan 2024 head shot

Christina Duncan

UPDATED August 4, 2025

Christina (Green) Duncan joined the Wayne State University women's basketball coaching staff in the summer of 2019 as a graduate assistant coach and was in the same role for the 2020-21 academic year.  She was hired as a full-time assistant coach in April of 2021.  Duncan enters her seventh year on coach Carrie Lohr's staff in the fall of 2025.

In her first season as a full-time assistant coach (2021-22), Duncan helped the Warriors to a second-place finish in the GLIAC regular season with a 13-7 mark, an appearance in the GLIAC Tournament semifinals, along with the first NCAA tournament appearance for the Warriors since 2014.

She mentored Sam Cherney, who received First Team All-GLIAC and GLIAC All-Defensive Team accolades.  The following year (2022-23), Duncan guided Maxine Moore to GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team honors.

In 2023-24, WSU compiled a 16-12 mark, had 10 GLIAC All-Academic honorees, and the squad was recognized by the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) and given "Special Mention" for posting a team GPA of at least 3.0.  In addition, Shea Tripp was a First Team All-GLIAC selection, while Gabi Lutchka was voted to the All-GLIAC Second Team.

The 2024-25 squad won 20 games and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  Four of WSU's 12 losses were to eventual national champion GVSU.  Forward Shea Tripp received a GLIAC Commissioner's Award and was also the 2025 recipient of the John Wooden Citizenship Cup.  Tripp, who earned All-Midwest Region accolades was a First Team All-GLIAC selection, while Taylor Thompson was voted Second Team All-GLIAC.

Duncan earned her bachelor's degree in Management from WSU in May of 2018 after a four-year career (2013-17) with the Warriors.  She played in 89 career games, making 35 starts.  Duncan tallied a career-high 25 points against Northern Michigan (1-14-2017) and pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds vs. Ursuline (11-11-2016).  She is sixth in school history in career field goal percentage (.510 / min. 150 made) and is tied-for-22nd in blocked shots with 33.

Duncan, who has been a part of three WSU teams to advance to the NCAA Tournament (2014 and 2015 as a player, and 2022 as an assistant coach), participated in the NCAA Coaches Academy in May of 2021.
