Justin Kelly re-joined the Wayne State Strength & Conditioning staff in November 2023 as an assistant coach after serving as the Director of Strength & Conditioning for Howell Public Schools since April of 2022.

During his time at HPS, Kelly designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for 20 sports.  He collaborated with local businesses for nutrition station enhancement.

Kelly had previously worked for more than two years at WSU, first as a graduate assistant (January of 2020 through December of 2021) and then as a part-time coach (January of 2022 through March of 2022).

During his undergraduate career, Kelly was a four-year (2016-19) member of the Warrior baseball program, and finished his career as the program's home run king with 38 round-trippers.  He also ranked first in at-bats (711), second in both extra-base hits (89) and RBI (169), third in both games played (201) and total bases (383), tied-for-third in sacrifice flies (15), fifth in hits (213), and sixth in both runs scored (143) and doubles (46).  Kelly also set the program record in fielding chances (1,648) and putouts (1,435), and tied-for-second in fielding percentage (.988).

He was a three-time All-GLIAC honoree earning First Team All-League recognition in both 2018 and 2019, after being named Honorable Mention All-GLIAC in 2017.

After his playing career at Wayne State, Kelly played professionally with the Birmingham Beavers of the United Shore Professional Baseball League in the summer of 2019.

Kelly graduated with his bachelor's degree in Management in December of 2019, before earning his master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science in December of 2021. He is certified through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), as well as the American Red Cross in First Aid, CPR and AED.

He was born on October 22, 1996, and is the son of Kevin and Gina Kelly.  He has one brother, Ryan, and a sister, Frances.

Justin and his wife Hannah currently reside in Farmington Hills.  Hannah (formerly McClounie) currently serves as the Assistant Coach for the Wayne State softball team and claimed the 2019 GLIAC Player of the Year award to cap off her illustrious four-year career (2016-19) as a Warrior.
