Sophomore Ethan Byrnes was the runner-up in a time of 20:43.8 as the Wayne State University men's cross country team started its 2019 season on Saturday morning by participating in the 33rd Annual Running-Fit Detroit Mercy Titans Invite that was held at Cass Benton Park.

The Warriors finished first in the six-team field with 21 points, while host Detroit Mercy was second (69 points).  Rounding out the team scores were Michigan-Dearborn (71 points), Madonna (74 points), Macomb Community College (162 points) and Cleary (173 points).
