Anais Ruyssen helped Wayne State rebound from a pair of losses against Washburn and Indianapolis to earn two wins this past week over Northwestern Ohio (#24 in NAIA) and #25-Findlay. The redshirt junior won both singles and doubles contests (with Marta Komar) against her opponents from UNOH and UF for a 4-0 overall record. Ruyssen downed the Racers' Alizee Ripolles 6-2, 6-2 at the first flight on Thursday, before securing her second singles victory of the week against a challenging Findlay opponent in Anamarija Kovacevic. After dropping the opening set 6-4, the Warrior recovered for set wins of 7-6 (7-2) and 7-5 to grab the comeback victory. Her performance on Saturday against the Oilers aided WSU in claiming a narrow 4-3 victory, the team's first win over a ranked Division II opponent this season. In doubles, Ruyssen and Komar claimed triumphs of 6-2 and 6-1, respectively, both from the No. 1 position.
