Second 0-0 result in WSU women's hockey history

TROY, N.Y. - The Wayne State University women's hockey team (0-1-1) played to a 0-0 tie at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1-0-1) on Saturday afternoon, just the second scoreless tie in the 10-year history of the Warrior women's hockey program.

Delayne Brian and Sonja van der Bliek collected 37 and 21 saves, respectively.  Wayne State went 0-for-6 on power-plays, while RPI was 0-for-5.

The Engineers reached double-digit totals in shots on goal in all three periods of regulation, but Brian was able to turn them all aside for her second career shutout.

van der Bliek notched 10 of her 21 saves in the second period.  The two goalies secured the first scoreless deadlock for WSU since Jan. 16, 2004 against Vermont.

Freshmen Jenaya Townsend and Julie Ingratta led the Wayne State offense with four shots on goal apiece.

Wayne State is off from competition next weekend before hosting Boston University for a series Oct. 16-17 at the City Sports Center in Detroit.
