GAME NOTES IN PDF FORMAT

GAME STORYLINES
For the second of its four straight road series, the Wayne State University women's hockey team (2-2-0) travels to Boston University (2-1-0) to take on the sixth-ranked Terriers this weekend. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday and 2:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Walter Brown Arena in Boston, Mass.

The Warriors went to the state of Minnesota last weekend, defeating St. Cloud State on Friday, 3-0, before losing a narrow 1-0 decision at fourth-ranked Minnesota on Saturday afternoon. After dropping its season opener, 5-4, at North Dakota on Oct. 2, Boston University recorded consecutive 6-2 victories, the most recent of which was last Saturday at Union.

Wayne State will face Colgate next weekend and, after two weeks off from competition will open conference play Nov. 12-13 at Robert Morris.

BEHIND THE BENCH
Jim Fetter is 111-104-22 in his eighth season at the helm of the WSU women's hockey program. He is a three-time College Hockey America (CHA) Coach of the Year and was named Women's Division I Coach of the Year by the American Hockey Coaches Association in 2008.

Boston University head coach Brian Durocher has a career record of 83-67-29 in his sixth season at his alma mater.

THROUGH THE YEARS
These two teams met for the first time last October in Detroit. The series opener resulted in a 4-4 tie on Oct. 16, 2009, but the Terriers triumphed in the second game, 4-2.

IN THE POLLS
Wayne State was predicted to finish in fifth place by the CHA head coaches in the 2010-11 preseason poll. Boston University, currently ranked sixth in both the USCHO.com and USA Today national polls, was the favorite to win the Hockey East league championship according to the preseason coaches' poll.

SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
The Terriers are coming off their best season in program history, as they earned their first NCAA Tournament berth by winning the 2010 Hockey East Tournament Championship. Among those returning for BU this season is junior defenseman Tara Watchorn, a Second-Team All-Star a year ago.

Boston University returned six of its top seven scorers from the 2009-10 season. Seniors Lauren Cherewyk and Jillian Kirchner, junior Jenelle Kohanchuk and sophomore Jill Cardella all posted double-digit point totals last year. Kirchner and Kohanchuk are tied for third on the squad this season with five points apiece.

Leading the team in scoring this season is New Hampshire transfer and Hockey East All-Star Jenn Wakefield, who has five goals and three assists. Rookie Marie-Philip Poulin has seven points including four goals.

The goaltending corps for BU is young, as sophomore Alissa Fromkin and freshman Kerrin Sperry will share playing time. They have allowed an average of three goals per game this season.

LAST TIME OUT
Wayne State began its eight-game road trip with a 3-0 victory at St. Cloud State on Friday night at the National Hockey Center. Julie Ingratta scored twice – her second consecutive two-goal game – as part of a three-point performance, and Delayne Brian made 26 saves to earn her fifth career shutout.

Snapping a scoreless tie at 15:19 of the second period, Ingratta netted her first of the game with an assist from Lauren Coxon to give WSU a 1-0 lead.

Ingratta's fourth of the season came at 3:49 of the third period from Julie Hebert and Cari Coen, who less than five minutes later along with Ingratta assisted on Lauren Ragen's power-play goal for her first career multiple-point game.

Brian, who made 15 saves in the second period, held SCSU scoreless in three power-play chances as the Warriors improved to 6-4-0 all-time against the Huskies.

Wayne State took fourth-ranked Minnesota to the limit in a 1-0 setback Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena. While shots on goal favored the Golden Gophers, 40-22, only a first-period goal by Amanda Kessel separated the two teams in the end. Brian totaled 39 saves, including 17 in the opening 20 minutes.

Brian's counterpart, Noora Raty, made 22 saves for her ninth career shutout. The Gophers have yet to allow a goal in three regular season games.

Leading the WSU offensive attack were Ragen and Julie Hebert who finished with four shots apiece.

BRIAN EARNS CHA AWARD
Brian was selected as the CHA Goaltender of the Week for her performance on the trip to Minnesota. She finished the weekend with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .985 save percentage, stopping 65 of the 66 shots she faced against the Huskies and Golden Gophers.

WARRIORS MOVING UP RANKS
Ingratta's game-winning goal Friday at SCSU was the third of her career, moving her into a tie for 10th all-time in program history. She has also scored the first goal of a game three times in her career, most by any active player.

Veronique Laramee-Paquette's power-play goal Oct. 2 against Bemidji State was the sixth of her career, putting her in a four-way tie for ninth all-time.

Alyssa Baldin's assist in the series finale against the Beavers was her 17th power-play point, moving her into the top 10 all-time. She also ranks 13th in career points (40) and 11th in goals (19), and is the top active player in both categories.

Brian, who possesses the highest career winning percentage in school history (.547), has 22 victories and needs three more to surpass Anna VanderMarliere (2000-04) for second place. Brian ranks second all-time in career goals-against average (2.52) and third in save percentage (.910).

INGRATTA ACHIEVES RARE FEATS
Prior to Ingratta on Friday, the last Warrior to post consecutive multiple-goal games was Melissa Boal, who scored six goals in a two-game span Jan. 16-17, 2009 against Robert Morris.

Ingratta's two power-play goals Oct. 2 against Bemidji State was only the 15th such occurence in a game in program history. The last WSU player to accomplish the feat was Katrina Protopapas on Oct. 21, 2009 against the Beavers. It was also Ingratta's first career multiple-goal game.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Wayne State is in the midst of an eight-game road trip, the longest for the Warriors since taking an eight-game trip in the second half of the 2006-07 season. Wayne State went 6-10-2 away from Detroit a year ago.

WSU VS. HOCKEY EAST
In 25 games, Wayne State has a 15-9-1 record (.620) against teams from Hockey East. However, the Warriors have just one win in their last five contests versus Hockey East squads. Prior to the recent skid, Wayne State won eight straight over HE teams.

TOP 10 TROUBLE
Wayne State will take a 14-game winless streak against nationally-ranked teams into this weekend's series with No. 6 Boston University. The Warriors' last victory over a ranked team was on the back end of a sweep Nov. 14-15, 2008 against then-10th ranked Northeastern. Since then, Wayne State has tied No. 9 Boston University, 4-4, on Oct. 19, 2009, and No. 6 Wisconsin (on the road), 2-2, on Nov. 12, 2009.

LOOKING AHEAD
When the Warriors return from their road trip, they will play back-to-back home series against Mercyhurst (Nov. 19-20) and Minnesota State (Nov. 26-27). The series against the Lakers will be Skate for the Cure Weekend, raising money and awareness for breast cancer research and treatment.
