Ingratta scores twice for second consecutive game

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The Wayne State University women's hockey team (2-1-0) began its eight-game road trip with a 3-0 victory at St. Cloud State University (0-3-0) on Friday night at the National Hockey Center.

Julie Ingratta (Markham, Ont./North American Hockey Academy) scored twice – her second consecutive two-goal game – as part of a three-point performance, and Delayne Brian (Winnipeg, Man./Notre Dame Hounds) made 26 saves to earn her fifth career shutout.

Snapping a scoreless tie at 15:19 of the second period, Ingratta netted her first of the game with an assist from Lauren Coxon (Kitchener, Ont./Waterloo KW Rangers) to give WSU a 1-0 lead.

Ingratta's fourth of the season came at 3:49 of the third period from Julie Hebert (Chelmsford, Ont./Aurora Jr. Panthers) and Cari Coen (Manhattan Beach, Calif./L.A. Selects), who less than five minutes later along with Ingratta assisted on Lauren Ragen's (Grosse Ile, Mich./Connecticut Polar Bears) power-play goal for her first career multiple-point game.

Brian, who made 15 saves in the second period, held SCSU scoreless in three power-play chances as the Warriors improved to 6-4-0 all-time against the Huskies.

Wayne State will head to Minneapolis to take on the fourth-ranked University of Minnesota at 3:07 p.m. ET on Saturday.

NOTES
Friday was the 31st shutout victory in WSU program history … prior to Ingratta, the last Warrior to post consecutive multiple-goal games was Melissa Boal, who scored six goals in a two-game span Jan. 16-17, 2009 against Robert Morris … Brian has 22 career victories and is three shy of surpassing Anna VanderMarliere for second place all-time at Wayne State.
