DETROIT - The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team defeated Ashland University,
143-94, in a GLIAC dual meet on Friday night at the Matthaei.
Earning NCAA qualifiers were diver
Jeff Grant, who qualified on the one-meter board (289.97), and
Jimmy Lee who picked up a “B” cut in the 200 backstroke with a first-place time of 1:52.84.
Kristian Larsen bested his prior “B” time in the 200 freestyle, winning the event in a time of 1:43.27.
Larsen, who finished in first place in the 500 freestyle (4:45.80), was a two-time winner, as was
Andrey Seryy who won the 50 (20.39) and 100 (45.45) freestyle swims.
The Warriors swept the top three spots in the 1000 freestyle.
Cameron Weaver finished first (10:08.50) followed by
Calvin Reder (10:21.20) and
Jordan Papp (10:23.31).
Other victors on Friday night were
Joaquin Abascal Gallegos in the 200 individual medley (1:56.49),
Kevin Galerneau in the 200 butterfly (1:54.82),
Dylan Szegedi in one-meter diving (300.75) and
Darrin Driesenga on the three-meter board (292.50).
Wayne State's next competition is Dec. 2-3 at the Eastern Michigan Invitational.
