Men's Swimming Falls at Oakland, 172-128

-- The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving squad dropped a 172-128 decision at Division I Oakland University's Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon.

WSU's 200 medley relay quartet of Ivan Udalov (Saint-Petersburg, Russia), Piotr Jachowicz (Lodz, Poland), Nathan Hesche (Jackson, Mich.) and Kristian Larsen (Frederiksberg, Denmark) took first in a time of 1:31.81, while the 200 free relay team of Udalov, Larsen, Ben Winn (Washington, Mich. / Romeo) and Jachowicz also took first place in a time of 1:25.14.

Top individual performances were turned in by:

Jachowicz won the 100 breast (55.61) and 200 IM (1:50.00), while Udalov won the 50 free (21.29).

Darrin Driesenga (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa) won the three-meter diving with a score of 283.64, and finished second in the one-meter (283.42).

Joaquin Abascal Gallegos (Madrid, Spain) won the 200 breast (2:06.39) and placed second in the 100 breast (58.72)

Larsen finished second in the 100 free (47.63) and placed third in the 200 free (1:43.93).

Jordan Papp (Dearborn, Mich. / Edsel Ford) was third in the 1000 free in a time of 10:21.26.

Lucas Fernandez Vilanova (Valencia, Spain) was third in both the 100 back (53.18) and 200 back (1:52.85).

Calvin Reder (Bay City, Mich. / John Glenn) placed third in the 200 fly (1:58.76), with Hesche finishing third in the 100 fly (52.15).

Wayne State will host its first meet of the season this Friday as Eastern Michigan visits the Matthaei Natatorium for a 5 p.m. meet.
