Findlay, Ohio -- The Wayne State University volleyball squad (15-10 overall, 9-5 GLIAC) battled host Findlay nearly even every set but dropped a 25-22, 25-22, 25-19 decision to the Oilers (11-14 overall, 8-6 GLIAC) Tuesday evening at Croy Gymnasium.
UF raced out to an 11-3 lead in set one as WSU had seven attack errors.
The Warriors rallied to win 15 of the next 22 points to knot the set at 18.
The set was tied four more times, including at 22, before the Oilers won the last three points to close out the set 25-22.
Wayne State hit -.118 (8-12-34) in the first set.
The second set was a tight struggle from the start with three ties in the first six points before Findlay went on a 4-0 run to go ahead 6-3.
The set was tied at six consecutive point totals (8 through 13), before a 6-1 spurt put the Warriors ahead 19-14.
Eight straight UF points gave the hosts a 22-19 advantage.
The teams traded points the rest of the way with the Oilers prevailing 25-22.
The Warriors hit slightly better (.061) in the second set with 12 kills and 10 errors in 33 attempts.
The third set featured five ties in the first 12 points with the last coming at 6-6.
A 9-4 Findlay run gave them a 15-10 lead. The squads traded the next 12 points which put the Oilers ahead 21-16.

Heather Weiss and
Madie Kent pulled the Warriors within 21-18, but UF ended the match on a 4-1 run.
WSU did manage to hit .108 in the last set.
Findlay had 16 blocks (3 block solos, 26 block assists) in the match as Wayne State had 31 attack errors compared to 15 for the Oilers.
Kristen Bulkiewicz had a team-high nine kills for WSU, while Weiss hit a team best .429 (4-1-7).
Wayne State will play its final two home matches of the regular season this Friday (7 pm vs. Malone) and Saturday (2 pm vs. Walsh).
