CANTON, OHIO - Wayne State traveled to the Hall of Fame Fitness Center for a double-header match against two future GLIAC opponents Friday and swept both matches 9-0. The Warriors (2-1) earned their first and second wins of the season against Walsh University and Malone University, respectively.
The day started off with a 
9-0 win over the Cavaliers (2-2). 
Jason Chen (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) earned his first wins as a Warrior at second doubles and sixth singles. Chen and teammate 
Michael FitzGerald (Grosse Ile, Mich.) defeated Walsh's Diego Yung and Louis Thomas 8-4. Chen would earn his singles win against Chase Pucci. At the fifth singles spot, 
Oscar Gamarra (Guayaquil, Ecuador / Unidad Educativa Javier) rallied from being down 5-1 in the second set to win 7-5 over C. J. Kugler. 
Thomas Ducret (Paris, France) won at second singles in an exciting 7-5, 6-3 match against Mark Innes.
In the afternoon, the Warriors hit to a 
9-0 win over the Pioneers (0-4). Head Coach 
Bryan Morrow changed up the line-up to see some different combinations early on in the season. 
Melvin Joseph (Northville, Mich.)  teamed up with Chen at the number one doubles position. They defeated Malone's Nate Davis and Joss Celuch 8-1. Chen won his match at fourth singles in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) over Andrew Rearick.
Both Walsh and Malone will join the GLIAC in the 2012-13 campaign. Walsh is currently a member of NCAA Division III's American Mideast Conference. Malone is in the National Christian College Athletic Association.
The Warriors are back in action Feb. 17 in Indianapolis against the University of Southern Indiana.
