Men's Tennis to Host Mike Kneale Doubles Tournament to Close Fall Schedule

Wayne State welcomes Findlay and Tiffin to the WSU Tennis Courts for its final tournament of the fall.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's tennis squad is set to host the Mike Kneale Doubles Tournament on Friday, Oct. 30, at the WSU Tennis Courts.  Findlay amd Tiffin will join the Warriors, with play scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

The Warriors most recently competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by Davenport from Oct. 17-19.  Wayne State captured the Flight B doubles championship as Benjamin Hill (Duren, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany / Burgau-Gymnasium) and Harry Forsyth (Wamberal, New South Wales, Australia / The McDonald College [Mississippi College]) finished with a perfect 5-0 record.  The duo defeated five consecutive opponents to claim the title, including an 8-6 victory over Davenport's Dusselberg and Phijvijan in the final.

George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom / Peter Symonds College) also advanced to the Flight A singles finals after winning five consecutive matches.  Despite falling to Ferris State's Kevin Kovacs, 6-3, 6-3, Day qualified for the 2026 ITA Division II Singles and Doubles Championships, scheduled Nov. 4-8 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

QUOTING HEAD COACH BRYAN MORROW
"Mike Kneale was a great player for Wayne State and a tremendous supporter of the program.  We love this tournament in honor of him.  This year we have Findlay and Tiffin coming for a day of doubles play for the conclusion of the fall for most of the guys, so it is a good chance to see where we are at.  This week we have practiced doubles quite a bit and worked on some things, so it will be exciting to see that as well.  We are really looking forward to getting on the courts and getting after it for our last official competition as a team for the year.  Tiffin and Findlay play good doubles, so we will have a lot of good competition and competitive matches in honor of Mike Kneale.
