Kissimmee, Fla. -- The Wayne State University softball team (8-10 overall) concluded its spring break trip by splitting a pair of games on Saturday at the Rebel Spring Games.
The Warriors defeated Slippery Rock (5-5 overall), 
6-1, in the opener, while dropping a 
3-0 decision to #23-Augustana (16-3 overall) in the nightcap.
WSU plated three runs in the top of the first against Slippery Rock on three hits and two walks.  Sophomore 
Logan White (Brantford, Ont. / Johnson C.V.I.) had a one-out double, and after back-to-back two-out walks to senior 
Rebecca Ryan (Westland, Mich. / Dearborn Divine Child) and junior 
Stephanie Foreman (Cambridge, Ont. / Preston), freshman 
Shelby Spano (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenson) delivered a two-run double on a 3-2 pitch.  Freshman 
Shannon Hilton (Gilford, Ont. / Bradford) followed with an RBI single on a 1-2 offering.
Wayne State extended its lead to 5-0 in the third as Foreman had a one-out single and Hilton had a two-run inside-the-park home run as the SRU right fielder fell down.
Slippery Rock scored its lone run in the bottom of the third off WSU senior pitcher 
Sam Cain (Taylor, Mich. / Kennedy) as the leadoff batter was hit by a pitch, then SRU sandwiched a pair of singles around a pop out.
WSU's last run came in the seventh as sophomore 
Nikki Fulton (Stratford, Ont. / St. Michael Catholic S.S.) reached on an error, advanced to second on a single by Foreman and scored on a single by Hilton.
Foreman and White each went 3-for-3 with a walk, with White contributing a double.  Hilton went 3-for-3 with four RBI, while Spano had two hits and two RBI.
Cain struck out five and did not walk a batter, while limiting SRU to one run on eight hits.
WSU had just seven base runners in the 3-0 loss to 23rd-ranked Augustana on four singles and three walks.

Rebecca Stanley (Waterloo, Ont. / Waterloo C.I.) each had hits for the Warriors.
Freshman 
Briana Lee (Canton, Mich. / Salem) suffered the setback despite limiting the Vikings to three runs on five hits.  She struck out three and walked five.
AU scored twice in the top of the fourth on two singles and a double, then added an insurance run in the sixth on a leadoff double, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI single.
Wayne State is scheduled to begin league play with six home games next weekend.  The Warriors will host Hillsdale on Friday (3:30 p.m.), Grand Valley on Saturday (1 p.m.) and Ferris State on Sunday (noon).
