BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Wayne State men's tennis squad (10-7, 4-1 GLIAC) was handed its first GLIAC loss by the region's sixth-ranked Ferris State. The Bulldogs edged the Warriors 5-4 in a hard-fought match Thursday afternoon.
The Warriors won two of three douibles matches to break out to a 2-1 lead. The teams of sophomores
Aman Gill and
Melvin Joseph at the top position and
Michael FitzGerald and redshirt freshman
Jason Chen at second won 8-6 and 8-5, respectively.
The Bulldogs' Laurent Galarneau tied the match at two with a win at first singles. At the second singles flight, sophomore
Aman Gill's win over in three sets tied the at three. Unfortunately FSU (12-6, 7-1 GLIAC) went on to take three of the remaining four singles flights to seal the match.
The Warriors play at Grand Valley on Friday afternoon.
