Detroit -- The Wayne State men's tennis team (6-4) will look to improve upon its fast 3-0 start in the GLIAC with a pair of matches in the Upper Peninsula this weekend as they take on Lake Superior State on Friday at 2:00 pm and Michigan Tech on Saturday at 10:00 am. WSU is one of four GLIAC teams that remain unbeaten in league play for 2013.
The Warriors have been led by a strong trio of singles players as senior
Thomas Ducret (Paris, France) and juniors Melvin Jospeh (Northville, Mich. / Northville ) and
Michael FitzGerald (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Grosse Ile) all hold 5-3 singles records on the year and have been pivital in the Green and Gold's success.
Wayne State enters the week ranked seventh in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Midwest Region.
FitzGerald and Joseph have combined for the best doubles record as well with their 3-1 mark on the year predominantly played in the second doubles position. Coach
Bryan Morrow has mixed and matched doubles teams all year looking to find the right combinations.
