Wayne State University (29-13, 19-7) held Saginaw Valley (12-20, 10-12) scoreless for nine innings on Sunday afternoon but a RBI-single in the bottom of the eleventh inning gave the Cardinals the win to avoid the series sweep.

Starter Kyle Zimmerman (Frankfort, Mich.) went eight innings, allowing six hits and one earned runw ith seven strikeouts.
 
SVSU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first following a wild pitch. A single through the right side from Kyle O'Boyle gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
 
Chris Gebara (Troy, Mich.) kept the Cardinals off the scoreboard in the second inning with his third outfield assist of the season. Brad Schalk singled to right field and Niko Gonzalez tried to score from second but Gebara cut him down at the plate.
 
Zimmerman retired 15 straight batters from the second to the seventh inning.
 
Zimmerman singled to begin the fifth and Travis Rodery (Wyandotte, Mich. / Roosevelt) followed with another single. Kenny Davis (Wyoming, Mich. / Lee) drove in WSU's first run of the game with a single up the middle and Rodery scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2.
 
SVSU's starter, Dylan Wisniewski, also tossed a gem as he retired 13 straight to keep the Warrior offense quiet. He finished with nine innings pitched, allowing five hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts.
 
The Cardinals loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth inning but Zimmerman was able to get Chris Perkovich to fly out to center field to end the threat and keep game tied at 2-2.
 
Ryan Hotmer was hit by Zimmerman's pitch to begin the bottom of the ninth inning. Brandyn Hall (Sylvania, Ohio / Northview) (2-2) replaced Zimmerman following the hit-by-pitch. Hall retired the first three hitters he faced to send the game to extra innings.
 
Aaron Woods (1-1) replaced Wisniewski to begin the 10th inning for SVSU.
 
Hall set down the Cardinals in order in the bottom of the 10th to force an 11th inning.
 
SVSU rallied with two outs in the bottom of the eleventh inning to win on a single through the left side from pinch-hitter Brendon Hayes. 
 
The Warriors will play a doubleheader at Tiffin on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
