DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's basketball team (8-1, 5-0 GLIAC) held visiting Walsh University (5-5, 1-4 GLIAC) scoreless for nearly eight minutes in the first half, building a double-digit lead and the Warriors never looked back, earning its seventh straight victory in a 79-57 win.

Imari Redfield (Detroit, Mich. / Country Day) scored a career-high 30 points, blowing past her previous career-best by 17 points (her previous career-high was 13 points last season at Ferris State). She had established a new career-high by halftime, knocking down 8-of-9 shots for 17 points in the first 20 minutes. Redfield is the first WSU player to reach 30 points since

Junior
Shareta Brown (Pontiac, Mich. / Grand Blanc) had her fifth double-double of the season by the break and finished with 24 points, 15 rebounds and five assists for WSU.
Wayne State held Walsh scoreless for nearly eight minutes in the first frame, turning a one-point lead into a 15-point advantage. After a made bucket by Walsh's Tara Gallupe cut the WSU lead to one point, 13-12, with 13:44 left in the opening half, WSU proceeded to score the next 14 points.
Brown and Redfield converted on consecutive lay-ups and two

Ashley Wilson (Portage, Mich. Northern) gave Wayne State a 25-12 advantage. Redfield would complete the 14-0 run with a jumper to make it 27-12 WSU with 6:13 left in the first half. WSU held Walsh to 0-11 shooting and four turnovers during the run.
The Warriors would go on to lead 35-20 at the break. Wayne State lead by a double-digit score the rest of the game. Gallupe converted on a three-pointer with 9:49 remaining to cut the WSU lead to 11 points, 55-44, but that's as close as the Cavaliers would get.
WSU used a 6-0 run to make it a 17-point game. Brown made two straight lay-ups and Redfield followed with her own lay-up on the block to give Wayne State a 61-44 lead with 6:55 left in the game.
Junior
Jackie Jones (Detroit, Mich. / Martin Luther King) had nine points, three assists and no turnovers for the Warriors. Thomas had eight points and two steals.
Gallupe led Walsh with 18 points off the bench. Jalynn Graham added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Cavaliers.
For the game, WSU shot 46.7 percent and limited Walsh to 34.3 percent. Wayne State out-rebounded Walsh 46-40 and also had a large advantage in assists (22-12).
The seven-game win streak is Wayne State's longest since the Warriors won nine straight last year from Jan. 19 to Feb. 21.
Wayne State stays in Detroit for its next game, hosting Malone on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
