ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team fell against Oakland University, a Division I squad, 179.5-113.5 at the OU Aquatic Center Saturday afternoon.
Senior diver
Dylan Szegedi (Oregon, Ohio / St. Francis de Sales) won the one-meter competition with a score of 285.67 and came in second on the three-meter board (280.05).
Freshman
Bob Stephenson-Ganner (Newark, U.K.) won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 9:43.36 and placed third in the 500 freestyle (4:54.24).
Sophomore
Till Barthel (Hannover, Germany) tied for first place in the 50 breaststroke with OU's Tuomas V Kiviluoma in a time of 46.66 and placed third in the 200 freestyle (1:46.19).
Senior
Lucas Fernandez Vilanova (Valencia, Spain) placed third both in the 50 backstroke (24.68) and the 100 backstroke (59.92).
Junior
Jayson Hansen (Grand Blanc, Mich.) won the 100 IM in a time of 57.25 and was third in the 50 breaststroke (27.93).
Nick Victor (Chesterfield, Mich. / Anchor Bay) and
Mitch Bohr (Novi, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) were in second and third place in the 100 IM, respectively. Victor touched in a time of 59.21 and Bohr had a time of 59.24.
Junior
Eric Gensheimer (Farmington, Mich.) took second in both the 50 freestyle (21.57) and 50 butterfly (23.26).
The WSU 200 medley relay team of Barthel, Gensheimer,
Josh Schacht (Schoolcraft, Mich. / Mattawan) and
Ben Winn (Washington, Mich. / Romeo) turned in a time of 1:24.44 to earn first place.
Wayne State returns to the pool at 5 p.m. on Friday Nov. 14th to host Calvin at the Matthaei Natatorium.
