The Wayne State University Department of Athletics will be hosting its fifth annual "W" week sponsored by Advanced Disposal in support of women's athletics from April 12-18.

Saturday April 12, 2014: W-Day Brunch: Celebrating 39 Years of Women's Athletics at Wayne State
The week's activities begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday with a brunch in the multipurpose indoor facility. Keynote speaker will be Donna Lopiano, President and founder of Sports Management Resources, a consulting firm that focuses on bringing the knowledge of experienced, expert former athletics directors to assist scholastic and collegiate athletics departments in solving growth and development challenges.
Additionally, the 2014 class of "The Women Who Made A Difference" will be recognized. This year's class consists of Terry Truvillion (Women's Basketball, 1975-79), McCall Monte (Women's Tennis, 2008-11), Whitney Baker (Women's Swimming/Diving, 2004-08), Melanie Duda (Women's Fencing, 2000-03), Jordan Sinclair (Softball, 2003-06), Mayssa Bazzi (Volleyball, 2007-08), and Julie Mielke (Women's Cross Country, 1998-2001).

On Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. a Wellness Warrior Health Fair will take place at the Mort Harris Recreation and Fitness Center.
A women's self defense seminar will be held on Wednesday, April 16 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at General Lectures..
On April 17, WSU student-athletes who recorded at least a 3.5 term grade-point average for the Fall 2013 semester will be recognized at the 14th annual Student-Athlete Academic Recognition Luncheon.
Friday's activities include the Basic Needs Drive Hand Out.
