ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team fell 160.5-137.5 to Grand Valley State Saturday afternoon at the GVSU Fieldhouse Pool.
Zach Zylstra (Zeeland, Mich. / Zeeland East) earned the only NCAA "A" standard for the men's swimming team in the 200 backstroke touching the wall in 1:56.50.
Till Barthel (Hannover, Germany) claimed victory in both the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.79 and the 100 free (45.87) earning an NCAA "B" standard cut for both.
Bob Stephenson-Ganner (Newark, U.K.) won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 9:39.70 and placed second in the 500 free (4:48.09).
Piotr Jachowicz (Lodz, Poland) took first in all three events he competed in. He swam the 100 breaststroke in 57.07 and the 200 breaststroke 2:11.26. Jachowicz finished the 200 IM in 1:54.15.
Josh Schacht (Schoolcraft, Mich. / Mattawan) placed first in the 50 free with a time of 21.75.
Dylan Szegedi (Oregon, Ohio / St. Francis de Sales) earned an NCAA qualifying standard in the three-meter dive with a score of 314.33. Szedgedi won the one-meter dive scoring 272.77 points.
Soren Holm (Rodovre, Denmark) took second in both the 200 butterfly (1:55.80) and the 100 butterfly (49.77).
Tyler Roshak (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison) placed fourth in the 200 free (1:44.94).
The Warriors return competitively to the pool Friday, hosting Findlay for a 5 p.m. dual meet.
