DETROIT – The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team defeated the University of Findlay, 172-103, at the Matthaei Natatorium on Friday night.
Sophomore Zach Zylstra (Zeeland, Mich. / Zeeland East) won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 10:27.9 and classmate Soren Holm (Rodovre, Denmark) placed first in the 50 backstroke with a time of 23.94.
Sophomore Josh Schacht (Schoolcraft, Mich. / Mattawan) won the 50 freestyle in 21:55 and the 100 freestyle (48.28).
Junior Jayson Hansen (Grand Blanc, Mich.) took first in the 50 backstroke touching a time of 27.49 and the 100 breaststroke (59.15).
Junior Eric Gensheimer (Farmington, Mich) won the 100 butterfly (52.78) and sophomore Till Barthel (Hannover, Mich.) touched first in the 100 backstroke in 54.24.
Freshman Tyler Roshak (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison) took second in the 200 freestyle (1:45.98) and junior Kris Hector (Shelby Twp., Utica Eisenhower) placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:00.11).
In diving, Dylan Szegedi (Oregon, Ohio / St. Francis de Sales) won the one-meter dive with 277.60 points and the three-meter board with 285.80 points.
The WSU 200 medley relay quartet of Zylstra, Nick Victor (Chesterfield, Mich. / Anchor Bay), Holm, and Gensheimer won with a time of 1:35.51.
Wayne State returns to the pool Saturday taking on Eastern Michigan at the Matthaei beginning at 1 p.m.
