DETROIT – The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team hosted Eastern Michigan University in its last regular dual meet of the season. The Warriors won five events, but lost to the Eagles, a Division I opponent, 194-105.
The seniors were recognized during the event for their participation in the program with this being the final home meet of the season.
Soren Holm (Rodovre, Denmark) won the 100 butterfly with a time of 50.28 to earn a NCAA "B" qualifying time and was fourth in the 200 butterfly (1:58.62).
Senior Piotr Jachowicz (Lodz, Poland) placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.24 and the 200 IM (1:55.62).
Junior Juan David Molina Perez (Medellin, Colombia) won the 100 backstroke in 50.96.
Freshman Bob Stephenson-Ganner (Newark, U.K.) took second in the 1000 freestyle (9:57.22) and third in the 400 freestyle (4:52.79)
Sophomore Josh Schacht (Schoolcraft, Mich. / Mattawan) placed second in the 50 freestyle (21:58) and classmate Till Barthel (Hannover, Germany) took third in the 100 freestyle (47:51).
Junior Jayson Hansen (Grand Blanc, Mich.) placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.56) and sophomore Zach Zylstra (Zeeland, Mich. / Zeeland East) took fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:58.75)
In diving, Dylan Szegedi (Oregon, Ohio / St. Francis de Sales) placed second in the one-meter and three-meter with scores of 279.45 and 279.83.
WSU won the 200 medley relay in 1:31.53 earning NCAA "B" qualifying standards. The quartet was comprised of Molina Perez, Jachowicz, Holm and Barthel.
The Warriors will return to the pool for GLIAC Championships February 11th-14th in Jenison, Mich.
