ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Six members of the Wayne State University women's indoor track and field squad competed on Valentine's Day at the GVSU Big Meet and two school records were broken with provisional distances in the shot put and weight throw, while six personal bests were recorded on the day.
All four participants in the weight throw achieved personal bests with junior
Erika Perry (Romeo, Mich.) notching a provisional qualifying distance of 16.93m with a school record throw of 55-06.50. It was the 37th best toss in NCAA Division II this indoor season.
Freshman
Lauren Bohn (Windsor, Ont. / E. J. Lajeunesse Catholic H.S.) also set a personal best in the weight throw (15.87m), while redshirt freshmen Elizabeth and
Gabrielle Herriman (Adrian, Mich. / Sand Creek) also tallied personal bests in the weight throw at 14.43m and 14.06m, respectively.
Elizabeth Herriman also shattered the school record in the shot put with a distance of 13.31m (43-08.00), which is tied for the 37th longest throw in D-II this season.
Freshman pole vaulter
Han Dinh (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Sterling Heights Stevenson) also had a personal best at 3.06m.
Next Saturday (Feb. 21), the Warriors will send some members to Michigan's Silverston Invitational, while others will compete at the Hillsdale College Tune-Up.
