NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- The Wayne State University men's basketball squad (5-19 overall, 5-16 GLIAC) suffered an 86-77 setback at Walsh University (15-10 overall, 11-10 GLIAC) Saturday afternoon.
After trailing in the early going, the Warriors went on a 6-2 run to take an 8-7 lead. WSU buckets were scored by freshman forward

Tristan Wilson (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Skyline) ended a 6-0 Cavalier run and pulled WSU within three at 13-10. A 7-0 spurt by the Warriors knotted the game at 17. Junior guard
Gavin Toma (Troy, Mich. / Southfield Christian) connected on his first of four triples to start the run, while freshman guard
Marcus Moore (Lansing, Mich. / Waverly) and Bishop finished the run with baskets. It marked the fourth straight contest Toma has made at least three triples going 14-for-25 from beyond the arc during that stretch.
Walsh answered with a 14-5 run over the next three minutes to lead by nine (31-22) with just over six minutes remaining in the first half. The teams played even with the Cavaliers holding a 9-8 scoring edge until the final seconds before intermission when Walsh's Rian Burrell nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer giving the hosts a 43-30 lead at halftime.
A second-chance hoop by the Cavaliers on the first possession of the second half extended their lead to 15. Walsh still had a 15-point advantage (52-37) with just under 15 minutes left in the game before the Warriors responded with a 12-4 run to pull within seven at 56-49. Bishop keyed the run with eight points.
Wayne State was not able to get any closer than seven points the rest of the way.
Besides Bishop's career-high 27 points, which included a 10-for-10 performance from the charity stripe, Toma contributed 19 points. Sophomore forward
Michael Lewis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Huron) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and added 13 points, while Moore chipped in with a team-best five assists, seven rebounds and six points.
Burrell led Walsh with a team-high 18 points off the bench to lead five Cavaliers in double figures.
Walsh attempted 42 foul shots compared to 23 for Wayne State, while WSU actually led in field goals made 26-24 amd both squads made six triples.
Wayne State will conclude its 2014-15 campaign with a 7:30 p.m. tip at Findlay on Thursday.
