NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- Seven members of the Wayne State University women's outdoor track squad began the 2015 season on Saturday at Muskingum's Amy Adams Memorial Invitational.
Three Warriors won their individual events and as a team WSU placed fifth out of 10 schools with 69 points.
Junior
Erika Perry (Romeo, Mich.) began the competition with a first-place throw in the hammer of 47.60m (156-02). Freshman
Lauren Bohn (Windsor, Ont. / E. J. Lajeunesse Catholic H.S.) finished in the third place with a toss of 43.72m (143-05).
Sophomore
Elizabeth Herriman (Adrian, Mich. / Sand Creek) won the javelin with a school-record throw of 38.84m (127-05), while her twin sister Gabrielle placed second with a toss of 35.10m (115-02).
Gabrielle won the shot put with a toss of 12.15m (39-10.50), with Elizabeth taking second with a distance of 11.96m (39-03.00).
Elizabeth was WSU's top finisher in the discus placing second with a school-record throw of 39.94m (131-00).
The Wayne State track team will be competing in the Raleigh (N.C.) Relays this Friday and Saturday.
