DANVILLE, Ky. -- Members of the Wayne State University women's track and field team competed Friday and Saturday at the UC (University of the Cumberlands) Invite.
Nine personal bests were recorded, including a school record in the hammer throw which was also an NCAA Provisional distance.
Junior
Erika Perry (Romeo, Mich.) started a strong performance by the Warriors on Friday evening breaking the school record in the hammer throw with a second-place distance of 52.04m (170-08.75). Sophomore
Gabrielle Herriman (Adrian, Mich. / Sand Creek) had a personal best (43.69m) in the hammer throw to finish seventh. Freshman
Lauren Bohn (Windsor, Ont. / E. J. Lajeunesse Catholic H.S.) was eighth.
Freshman
Han Dinh (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Sterling Heights Stevenson) went 3.05m in Saturday's pole vault to record a personal best and place third.
Bohn set a personal best in the shot put (11.88m) to place ninth, while classmate
Rachel Kloski (Warren, Mich. / Fraser) set a personal best in the long jump at 4.94m which was fifth. Kloski also set a personal best in the 100m hurdles (15.98). Sophomore
Christina Kollien (Alpena, Mich.) led WSU with a second-place finish in the 100m hurdles (15.02).
Both Perry and freshman
Dallas Porter (Royal Oak, Mich.) set personal bests in the discus with distances of 37.72m and 34.32m, respectively. Perry's toss, which was sixth in the competition, was the second-best in school history.
In the 5k race, freshman
Haley Reynolds (Riverview, Mich.) placed sixth with a personal-best time of 19:55.37.
Freshman
Jessie Kluz () tied-for-second in the high jump (1.62m), while senior
Lauren Gagnon () was sixth in the 1500m (4:56.68).
Wayne State finished fourth out of 22 schools participating with 54.33 points.
