HILLSDALE, Mich. -- A limited number of Wayne State University women's track and field roster is competing this weekend at the Hillsdale Gina Relays.
On Thursday, senior
Kayla Smade (Columbus, Mich. / St. Clair) set a personal best in the 5K Open with a time of 17:29.12. "This was the best track race ever for Kayla," commented head coach
Rick Cummins.
Two Warriors had personal bests in the shot put on Friday evening as sophomore
Gabrielle Herriman (Adrian, Mich. / Sand Creek) had a toss of 12.47m (40-11.00), while freshman
Dallas Porter (Royal Oak, Mich.) had a distance of 10.40m (34-01.50).
Freshman
Karrington Seals (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) had a personal best in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:07.13.
For the second straight day, Smade had a personal best. Friday's event was the 1500 and her time was 4:37.23.
The final event for WSU on Friday was the women's 5K Championship with junior
Kayla Balfour (St. Clair, Mich.) recording the third fastest time in school history. Her provisional time was 17:01.38.

Erika Perry (Romeo, Mich.) in the discus; freshman
Han Dinh (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Sterling Heights Stevenson) in the pole vault;
Gabrielle Herriman in the javelin; and sophomore
Leah Coonrod (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Gull Lake) and freshman
Kaley Kauff (Allen Park, Mich.) in the 1500m Open.
