ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team split, 1-1, on Monday as the Warriors fell, 8-1, to No. 20 North Georgia at Lake Cane Tennis Center, then topped St. Thomas Aquinas, 7-2, at Sanlando Park.
MATCH ONE RECAPDOUBLES RESULTS- Freshman
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) and junior
Clement Charriere (Marsielle, France) notched the lone point for the Warriors as the pair beat Philipp Mueller and Niklas Zielen, 8-6, at the first doubles flight.
- Sophomore
Harvey Reed (Winchester, England) and junior
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) lost, 8-5, to Alexander Reinauer and Joe Klokow at the second doubles position, while freshman
Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) and
Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) were defeated, 8-5, to Andre Canino and Lukas Moritzen at No. 3 doubles.
SINGLES RESULTS
- Charriere fell in a super tiebreaker, 10-8 (5-7, 7-5) to Zielen at the second singles flight, and Kechai lost in two sets, 6-2, 6-3, to Mueller at No. 1 singles.
- Sammons was topped, 6-3, 6-1, to Canino at the sixth singles position, while Vane was defeated (6-3, 6-0) to Reinauer at the third singles flight.
- Carlson was beat in two sets (6-0, 6-1) by Moritzen at No. 5 singles, and Reed fell short, 6-1, 6-0, to Hugues Renald at the fourth singles flight.

MATCH TWO RECAPDOUBLES RESULTS- The Warriors won at all three doubles flights as Sammons and sophomore
Luke Ruocco (Lewes, England) shutout Chris Jonas and Gilberto Lantigua, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles.
- Charriere and Vane posted a 8-1 victory over Aaron Stahl and Javier Muniz-Laguna at the first doubles position, while Reed and Carlson bested Andreu Ferragut-Lluch and Roger Almato in a close, 9-8(4), match at the second doubles flight.
SINGLES RESULTS- Freshman
Jason Potter (Sterling Heights, Mich. / International Academy East) earned a two-set win (6-0, 6-0) over Lantigua at the sixth singles position, while Sammons won, 6-1, 6-0, over Jonas at No. 5 singles.
- Ruocco beat Ferragut-Lluch in a super tiebreaker, 10-5 (7-5, 5-7) at the third singles flight, and freshman
Nicholas Ang (Rochester, Mich.) posted a 10-5 (6-4, 5-7) super tiebreaker victory over Almato at No. 4 singles.
- Vane was defeated, 6-2, 7-5, by Munoz-Laguna at the second singles flight, while Kechai lost, 6-1, 6-4, to Stahl at the first singles position.
