PLAINFIELD, Ill. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (5-9 overall) was defeated by No. 39 Lewis, 7-2, on the final day of the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover in Plainfield, Ill. at the Five Star Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
DOUBLES RESULTS - Senior
Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) and freshman
Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) beat Anton Levitin and Chandler Stimpert, 8-2, at the third doubles flight.
- Junior
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) and freshman
Taylor Vane (Southampton, Mich.) fell, 8-4 to No. 14 Alan Braschinsky and Mate Srdanovic at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore
Harvey Reed (Winchester, England) and junior
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) lost, 8-2, to Andre Norasith and Brendan Peterson at the second doubles position.
SINGLES RESULTS - Carlson topped Stimpert in a super tiebreaker, 10-7 (3-6, 6-4) at the fifth singles flight, and Sammons was bested in a super tiebreaker 14-12, 6-4, 6-7(5), by Levitin at No. 6 singles.
- Charriere lost in a 10-8 super tiebreaker (6-1, 4-6) to Braschinsky at the second singles position, while Reed was defeated by Peterson, 10-0 (6-2, 3-6), at the fourth singles flight.
- Vane fell in two-sets, 7-5, 6-4, to Norasith at No. 3 singles, and Kechai dropped two sets (6-2, 6-3) to No. 40 Mate Srdanovic at the first singles position.
UP NEXT- The Warriors will begin league play against Walsh in North Canton, Ohio on April 2. The match is slated to set at 10 a.m.
