MIDLAND, Mich. -- The No. 3-seed Wayne State University men's tennis team (13-11 overall) defeated No. 6-seed Walsh (11-12 overall), 5-4, in the opening round of the GLIAC Tournament on Friday evening at the Midland Tennis Center.

DOUBLES RESULTS
- Junior
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) and freshman
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) topped Ross Whitaker and Vasily Vidmanov, 8-4, at the first doubles flight, while senior
Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) and freshman
Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) recorded an 8-5 win over Heitor Adegas and Jonah Carter at No. 3 doubles.
- Junior
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) and sophomore
Harvey Reed (Winchester, England) fell in a close, 8-6, match against Pablo Cabezon and Carlos Jaque at the second doubles position.

SINGLES RESULTS
- Kechai notched a two-set victory (6-2, 6-1) over Vidmanov at the first singles flight, and Carlson best Adegas, 6-3, 7-6, at No. 6 singles.
- Sophomore
Luke Ruocco (Lewes, England) won in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 6-3) over Rodrigo Garcia at the fifth singles position, while Reed lost, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, to Jaque at the fourth singles flight.
- Charriere was beaten, 6-2, 7-5, by Whitaker at No. 2 singles, and Vane fell, 6-3, 6-2, to Cabezon at the third singles position.
