TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Wayne State University men's tennis squad (7-9 overall, 2-0 GLIAC) topped GLIAC opponent Tiffin, 7-2, on Sunday morning at Heminger Center in Tiffin, Ohio.
DOUBLES RESULTS - Junior
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) and freshman
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) defeated Luis Ludena and Toby Cutting, 9-7, at the first doubles flight, while freshman
Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) and senior
Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) bested Justin Kopronica and Elio Lezama Perez, 9-8(2), at No. 3 doubles.
- Sophomore
Harvey Reed (Winchester, England) and junior
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) fell in a close, 8-9(5), match to Agustin Mangone and Victor Fernandes at the second doubles position.
SINGLES RESULTS - Vane won in two-sets (6-4, 6-1) over Cutting at the third singles flights, and Kechai beat Ludena, 6-3, 7-6, at No. 1 singles.
- Reed earned a victory (6-4, 6-3) against Mangone at the fourth singles position, while Charriere topped Perez (7-6(3), 7-6) at the second singles flight.
- Freshman
Jason Potter (Sterling Heights, Mich. /) posted a super tiebreaker win, 14-12 (6-4, 5-7) over Fernandes at No. 6 singles, and Carlson lost, 1-3, to Kopronica before the match was retired.
UP NEXT- The Warriors will host Hillsdale on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Midtown Detroit.
