DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team battled Findlay in a GLIAC matchup on Friday evening at the Matthaei Natatorium and came out victorious by a score of 157-77. Prior to the meet, the WSU Class of 2017 was recognized.
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
Sophomore
Ahmed Ahmed (Alexandria, Egypt) recorded a first-place finish in the 1000 free, posting a time of 9:45.65, while junior
Nick Quigley (Guelph, Ont.) took second with a time of 10:17.27.
Freshmen
Sasha Palazzo (Verona, Italy) and
Viktor Holm (Kastrup, Denmark) led the way in the 200 free for WSU taking first and second, respectively, with times of 1:43.62 and 1:48.86.
Freshman
Ryan Katulski (Novi, Mich.), junior
Tyler Roshak (Farmington Hills, Mich./Harrison) and senior Joshua Schacht (Schoolcraft, Mich./Mattawan) swept the 50 free posting times of 21.56, 21.81 and 22.06.
New addition Joao Martimibianco Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was victorious in the 400 IM posting a mark of 4:08.09, while freshman
Leo Calice Pagotto de Oliveira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) garnered a second-place finish recording a time of 4:15.39.
Freshman
Riese Penn (Ionia, Mich.) won the one-meter diving event logging a score of 316.20.
Sophomore
Rasmus Olsen (Kastrup, Denmark) won the 100 fly in 49.28 while senior
Mitch Bohr (Novi, Mich./ Walled Lake Western) took second and posted a time of 53.12.
Katulski powered the Warriors to a first-place finish in the 100 free registering a time of 47.86, while Roshak took second posting a mark of 47.90.
Sophomore
Dima Drobnych (Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine) won the 100 back in 49.94.
Ahmed secured first-place in the 500 free logging a 4:46.99.
Junior
Khayman Jones (Adrian, Mich.) won the three-meter diving event recording a score of 255.55.
RELAY RESULTS
The quartet of Drobnych, Palazzo, Olsen and Schacht powered the Green and Gold to a first place finish in the 200 medley registering a time of 1:32.26.
