                     MIDLAND, Mich. -- The fourth-seeded Wayne State University men's tennis program (9-11) opened the GLIAC Tournament on Friday night by falling to fifth-seeded Hillsdale (13-8).
Entering the postseason, WSU is ranked 10th in the Midwest Region in the latest ITA Regional Rankings, while freshman 
Mats Westkamp (Bonn, Germany) is the 10th ranked singles player in the region.
DOUBLES RESULTS
-  The duo of junior 
Harvey Reed (Winchester, Hampshire, England) and senior 
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) won at No. 3 doubles 8-6.
- The Chargers won two of the three doubles matches. Westkamp and sophomore 
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) fell 9-7 at No. 1 doubles.
- Senior 
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) teamed up with sophomore 
Griffin Mertz (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) dropped their match at No. 2 doubles, 8-5.
SINGLES RESULTS
- The teams split the six singles matches as Mertz, Reed and Carlson all won at No 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively.
- Westkamp lost at the top flight of singles 6-4, 6-2, while Charriere fell 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
- Vane lost a tight match at No. 3 singles 7-6 (4), 6-3.
