MIDLAND, Mich. -- The fourth-seeded Wayne State University men's tennis program (9-12) ended its season with a 5-2 loss against third-seeded Tiffin (16-8) in the fifth-place match at the 2017 GLIAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
DOUBLES RESULTS
- Tiffin began the match by winning two of the three doubles flights. The sophomore duo
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) and
Griffin Mertz (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) won 8-5 at second doubles.
- Freshman
Mats Westkamp (Bonn, Germany) and junior
Harvey Reed (Winchester, Hampshire, England) dropped their match at No. 1 doubles, 8-5.
- In their final collegiate match seniors
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) and
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) fell 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
SINGLES RESULTS
- Westkamp lost a tightly-contested battle at the top flight of singles 7-3 (3), 7-6 (3).
- Charriere was victorious at No. 2 singles 7-6 (4), 6-4
- Carlson and
Nicholas Ang (Rochester, Mich.) lost at fourth and sixth singles, respectively. The matches at No. 3 and No. 5 singles were unfinished.
