BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (6-10, 3-3 GLIAC), was beaten by Ferris State (14-2, 7-0 GLIAC) 5-4 in GLIAC conference play on Sunday at the FSU Racquet & Fitness Center. Strong singles play by the Warriors wasn't enough to knock off the 15
th ranked Bulldogs.
SINGLES RESULTS
- Mats Westkamp (Born, Germany) (6-4, 6-2), and
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) (6-4, 6-4) defeated Ferris State's No. 1 singles player, and No. 3 singles player, respectively.

Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) (4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 2-6), and
Luke Ruocco (Lewis, England) (1-6, 2-6), were beaten by the Bulldog's No. 2 and No. 5 singles players, respectively.

Griffin Mertz (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) (6-4, 6-4) won his match against his No. 4 singles counterpart; while
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) (1-6, 2-6), lost his match against the Bulldog's No. 6 singles player.
DOUBLES RESULTS
- Westkamp and Vane dropped their No. 1 doubles match to the Bulldogs 8-9 (4-7).
- The duo of Charriere and Mertz lost to Ferris State's No. 2 doubles team 8-9 (4-7).
- Carlson and
Harvey Reed (Winchester, Hampshire, England) won their No. 3 doubles match 8-6.
UP NEXT
- The Warriors continue conference play, coming back home to face the Huskies of Michigan Tech University (1-10, 0-7 GLIAC). Match is scheduled for Friday, April 14, 2017, starting at 10am.
