DETROIT -- The Wayne State University baseball program hosted its annual alumni game at Harwell Field on Saturday, Sept 15 and golf outing on Saturday, Oct. 8th.  The events welcomed back nearly 50 former baseball student-athletes along with family and friends associated with the WSU Baseball program.

Members from the 1966-2018 teams participated in this year's fall alumni activities.  The baseball game featured a friendly exhibition between the current team versus the alumni.  Families, fans and friends were able to witness the game in the new stadium with chair back seats at Harwell Field.  The golf outing took place at The Lakes of Taylor, but was cut short due to heavy rains and course conditions.  However, participants were able to play nine holes followed by a reception.  

"The alumni events held on September 15th (Alumni Game), and on October 6th (Golf Outing) are clear indications that our alumni are alive, well, and interested in the program they had a part in building to what it is today," said WSU Alumni Association Board President & WSU Athletics Hall of Fame member Frank Jeney.  "Personally, being able to attend both events and seeing many of our alumni from varying era's is inspiring to say the least.  The Warriors and Tartars from all eras share a great love for the Green & Gold, it's growth and its successes on and off the field.  This year, at the alumni game in particular, alumni pride was heightened when touring and playing in front of the brand new grand stands that are part of the Ernie Harwell Stadium project.  The feeling of growth was evident and caused many to inquire about ways that they to could step into a position to give back to the program they love.  Now, we look back with satisfaction and Warrior pride but quickly look to the future towards next fall, when our events will grow even more.  To the Green and Gold!"
