Men's Swim and Dive Records a 125-77 Win Over Ashland

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's swim and dive team (2-1 overall, 1-0 GLIAC) earned a 125-77 victory over the Ashland Eagles (0-2 overall, 0-1 GLIAC) on Saturday.

QUALIFYING PERFORMANCES

Junior Joao Martimbianco Ribeiro's (Sao Paulo, Brazil) winning time of 3:59.46 in the 400 IM met the NCAA B qualifying standard of 4:00.42.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Redshirt junior Ahmed Ahmed (Alexandria, Egypt) claimed the top spot in the 1000 free (9:47.69).

Freshman Abdelrahman Hassan (Cairo, Egypt) earned his first collegiate win for the Warriors in the 200 free (1:45.71).

Junior Ryan Katulski (Novi, Mich.) came in first place in the 50 free with a time of 20.77.

Freshman Grant Porter (Haslett, Mich.) earned 220.40 points in the one-meter dive event and 161.25 points in the three-meter dive.

Senior Rasmus Olsen (Kastrup, Denmark) claimed first in the 200 fly (1:54.46).

Junior Sasha Palazzo (Verona, Italy) won the 100 free with a time of 45.87.

RELAY RESULTS

WSU notched a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:30.35). The winning quartet included redshirt freshman Franz Mueller (Brandenburg, Germany), Palazzo, Olsen, and Katulski.

"The men's team just keeps achieving at very high standards. I think our men's 200 Medley Relay may have set a pool record today, and overall performed a lot of top times nationally. I am also seeing steady improvements from our newcomers, which is fantastic!"
