Men's Swim and Dive Tops Findlay, 159-130

Seven swimmers earned at least one first-place finish.

FINDLAY, Ohio -- The 11th-ranked Wayne State University men's swimming and diving squad notched a 159-130 victory at Findlay on Friday evening.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
Senior Ryan Katulski (Novi, Mich.) finished first in both the 50 free (21.26) and the 100 free (47.04). Sophomore Jack Rogers (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Portage Central) was the runner-up in the 100 free, completing the event in 47.43.

Redshirt senior Ahmed Ahmed (Alexandria, Egypt) earned the top spot in the 1000 free, finishing the event in 9:49.22. Sophomore Chris Westgate (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) and classmate Sam Krahn (Dexter, Mich.) claimed second (10:16.78) and third place (10:17.61), respectively.

Freshman Casey Dolen (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Dexter) placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.95, followed by sophomore Kyle Lovas (Shepherd, Mich. / Alma) as the runner-up with a time of 1:46.59.

Freshman Luka Cvetko (Varazdin, Croatia) notched a victory in the 100 fly (51.32), with senior Joao Martimbianco Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) in second place (51.67).

Sophomore Grant Porter (Haslett, Mich.) earned a first-place finish in the one-meter dive with 267.30 points and a second-place finish in the three-meter dive with 218.40 points.

Redshirt sophomore Franz Mueller (Brandenburg, Germany) completed the 100 back in first place (52.13) and the 50 back in second place (24.07).

Freshman Matt Vassilakos (Clarkston, Mich.) claimed the top spot in the 500 free, earning a time of 4:58.91. Sophomore Logan Cavins (Lambertville, Mich. / Temperance Bedford) placed second with a time of 5:01.08.

Freshman Hans Anderson (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) finished second in the 50 breast, earning a time of 27.05.

Ahmed served as the runner-up in the 100 breast, swimming a time of 58.58. Ribeiro placed third with a time of 59.00.

Sophomore Abdelrahman Hassan (Cairo, Egypt) swam the fastest WSU time in the 50 fly, with a second-place time of 23.32. Freshman Josh Mahaney (Saline, Mich.) claimed third place (23.74).

RELAY RESULTS
Wayne State notched a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:33.40). The winning quartet consisted of Mueller as the lead off, Anderson, Ribeiro, and Katulski as the anchor.

A WORD FROM COACH PETERS
"The Warriors did a great job of stepping up and racing against a very strong opponent in Findlay," commented head coach Sean Peters. "We were definitely motivated to perform well tonight, and I saw some improvements from last week. With about five weeks until our conference meet, I enjoy watching our Warriors come together and grow stronger as a team."

UP NEXT
The Warriors will host seventh-ranked Grand Valley State at the Matthaei Natatorium on Saturday, Jan. 25th, at 1:00 p.m. for the final meet of the season.
