2021 Volleyball Schedule Is Complete

DETROIT -- The 2021 Wayne State University volleyball schedule has been finalized with dates and times for all 14 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matches.

The GLIAC was divided into two divisions with each school playing the other five divisional opponents twice (two at home for a weekend; two on the road for a weekend; along with a home-and-home with its travel partner).  Each institution will play two of the six opponents in the other division (one at home for a weekend; one on the road for a weekend) for 14 matches.

The league schedule begins on Thursday, February 18th and is set to conclude on Saturday, April 3rd.

At this time, spectators will be prohibited at all GLIAC basketball games, which will be contested with essential personnel only.   The GLIAC will continue to work closely with its member schools in regards to national, regional and local regulations.

Head coach Tim Koth begins his seventh year at Wayne State.  In just six seasons at the helm of the Warrior volleyball program, Koth has compiled an 88-83 record and has mentored 60 GLIAC All-Academic honorees.  His squad's have received the AVCA Team Academic Award each of the last five years (2015-16 through 2019-20).

Wayne State will try to extend its streak of consecutive years in the GLIAC Tournament to five in 2021, after reaching the semifinals in 2019.    In addition, Koth has tutored 16 All-GLIAC honorees during his tenure at WSU, plus Madelyn Krenz was a 2019 AVCA Midwest All-Region Team Honorable Mention selection.

The Warriors begin the 2020-21 campaign with a pair of road matches at Purdue Northwest on Thursday, February 18th at 6 p.m. and Friday, February 19th at 2 p.m. (both times listed are Central time).

WSU begins its home slate the following weekend by entertaining Grand Valley State.  Match #1 is Thursday, February 25th at 6 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. match on Friday, February 26th.

Wayne State visits Northwood for week three.  The matches in Midland are Friday, March 5th (6 p.m.) and Saturday, March 6th (2 p.m.).

Parkside ventures to Detroit the following week to face the Warriors.  Match times are 7 p.m. on Friday, March 12th and 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 13th.

WSU travels to Davenport for a pair of matches on Friday, March 19th (5 p.m.) and Saturday, March 20th (1 p.m.).

Wayne State entertains Lake Superior State for a pair of 7 p.m. matches on Friday, March 26th and Saturday, March 27th.

The Warriors conclude regular-season play with a home-and-home set against Ashland.  The squads meet in Ashland at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 1st, while the match in Detroit will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 3rd.

The 2021 GLIAC Tournament format has not yet been announced.
