SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's basketball team (1-1 Overall, 1-1 GLIAC) was unable to complete the road sweep falling 75-64 at Lake Superior State University (1-1 Overall, 1-1 GLIAC) Saturday afternoon.

FIRST HALF RECAP
Junior guard Antonio Marshall (Detroit, Mich. / Martin Luther King) scored on WSU's opening possession, but the host Lakers answered with a 7-0 run before senior guard Brailen Neely (Detroit, Mich. / Western International) drained a triple to pull the Warriors within two at 7-5.

LSSU extended its lead to 14 (27-13), its largest of the game, following a three-pointer by David Wren with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half.  Wren's shot from beyond the arc concluded a 20-8 spurt by Lake Superior State.

Marshall tallied five consecutive points to cut the Wayne State deficit to seven at 27-20.  Following a basket by Laker Nigel Colvin, sophomore transfer Jackie Harris (Sylvania, Ohio / Toledo St. Francis de Sales) totaled five points, while sophomore transfer Avery Lewis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Huron) chipped in with a bucket.  After a field goal by Lake Superior State's Kemon Bassett, freshman Ray Williams, Jr. (Detroit, Mich. / Edison Public School Academy) made a jumper to ignite a 7-0 run, which concluded with Harris's second long-range jumper of the half.

Harris scored the final points of the first half on a lay-up giving him a 10-point performance in the opening 20 minutes, and the Warriors a 36-33 advantage at intermission.

SECOND HALF RECAP
The game was back-and-forth for the first eight-plus minutes of the second half with neither team having a lead greater than three points.

A pair of free throws by Williams, Jr. with 11:40 left put WSU ahead 49-48.

Two minutes later, Lewis split a pair from the charity stripe ending a 6-0 Laker run.

Five straight points by LSSU's Malek Adams gave the hosts a nine-point advantage (59-50) with 8:30 remaining.

Wayne State went on a 5-0 spurt as junior Darian Owens-White (Ypsilanti, Mich. / River Rouge) connected from three-point range, and Lewis made two foul shots pulling WSU within four at 59-55.

Lake Superior responded with a 7-0 run, which included five points from Adams, for a double-digit margin of 11 (66-55).
