DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's track and field squad was recognized by the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) as an All-Academic Team.  The Warriors have a 3.543 cumulative grade-point average as a team.  In addition, junior Aliyah McDonald (Kingston, Jamaica) and sophomore Makayla Sumrall (Roseville, Mich.) received All-Academic honors.

Division II Track & Field All-Academic Teams Criteria

- Transfer students and/or graduate students are to include only grades earned at the current nominating institution.

Wayne State finished in the top 12 percent (30th out of 254 schools) of all NCAA Division II women's track and field squads with a 3.543 cumulative GPA.

"We could not be any prouder of the efforts our student-athletes gave in their studies this past semester," remarked head coach Grant Lofdahl.  "With everything that went on with the pandemic, classes going online, moving home, communication challenges, and more, they stayed focused and worked hard.  The team GPA of 3.543 was excellent, and put us around the top-10 percent of D2 programs nationally."

Wayne State was fourth in the GLIAC behind Michigan Tech (3.66), Parkside (3.58) and Davenport (3.57), and seventh in the Midwest Region behind Truman (3.75), Cedarville (3.65) and Walsh (3.6) in addition to the GLIAC member schools.
