Comcast CN 900 To Air All Six Home Football Games In 2021

DETROIT -- As part of its long-term partnership with Wayne State University, Comcast will produce and air live all home WSU Football contests this fall on CN900, Comcast's statewide local origination channel.
 
CN900 is available to all Comcast subscribers in Michigan. All of WSU's home games will be carried live on CN900, replayed on the channel for later viewing and also be available in HD on Get Local, Comcast's Local Video-on-Demand platform.  This year's WSU broadcast season kicks off September 2 at 6 pm with the Warriors battling fifth-ranked Slippery Rock.

The Wayne State University Department of Athletics and Comcast CN 900 would like to announce the broadcast crew for the 2021 Warrior football home season.

Joe Abramson, a veteran on the Detroit sports scene for over 30 years, returns for his 13th year on the Comcast broadcast and sixth as play-by-play announcer.  A Birmingham native who graduated from Brother Rice High School and the University of Detroit, Abramson works on the Lions radio broadcast as the spotter for Dan Miller and Lomas Brown.  The Royal Oak resident also serves as the statistician for George Blaha and Greg Kelser on Detroit Pistons broadcasts.

Rod Beard enters his 10th year as a member of the WSU broadcast crew.  He is a longtime sports writer for The Detroit News and currently is The News' beat writer for the Detroit Pistons.  A Detroit native, Beard is an alumnus of Renaissance High School and the University of Michigan.

WWJ Afternoon Co-Anchor Tony Ortiz is starting his fifth year as a member of the broadcast crew.  A graduate of Detroit Cooley High School and Specs Howard School of Media Arts, Ortiz spent 15 seasons providing sideline reports on the Detroit Lions Radio Network.

Kevin Brechmacher, who has served as the radio voice of Wayne State basketball the last six seasons, will fill-in on the crew for selected games.

The 2021 home opener for WSU is Thursday, Sept. 2 and will mark the beginning of the 17th season of Warrior football on Comcast.  The inaugural televised game by Comcast was when Wayne State faced Hillsdale at Ford Field on Nov. 6, 2004.  All six home football games this season will be televised live on Comcast CN 900 and replayed the following week.
