Women's Golf Begins Season in Indiana

The Warriors were led by Avery Howard who is tied-for-11th.

CARMEL, Ind. -- The Wayne State University women's golf program started its fall season on Monday under first-year head coach Larry Hamilton. The Warriors are in eighth place after 36 holes with a 646 (325, 321). The two-day event is being played at Prairie View Golf Club (Par 72 / 6,201 Yards).

LEADING THE WAY
Avery Howard (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer) paced the Green & Gold lineup with a 151 (75, 76) and is tied-for-11th with 18 holes to play. There is a tie-for-first between Anna Kramer of UIndy and Madeline Ananthasane of North Georgia who both fired 144s.

ATOP THE LEADERBOARD
UIndy is the top team with a 589, while Carson-Newman and UMSL are tied-for-second with matching 608s. The rest of the top five includes Lee (610) and Findlay (612). In WSU's sights are Central Missouri (615) and Grand Valley State (618).

WSU RESULTS
Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain) carded a 162 (82, 80), while Grace Zimmerman (Bruce Twp., Mich. / Almont) posted a 164 (79, 85).

Logan Potts (Norton Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores) finished her first 36 holes of the season with a 170 (89, 81), while Daniela Moreno (Bogota, Colombia) rounded out the starting five with a 176 (92, 84).

Natalie Groom (Orangevale, Calif. / El Camino Fundamental) competed as an individual and shot a 175 (83, 92).
