Volleyball's VanderWal Selected GLIAC Player of the Week

VanderWal earned her fourth career GLIAC POTW honor.

DETROIT -- Wayne State University graduate student Lauren VanderWal (Caledonia, Mich.) has been selected GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in her collegiate career.

VanderWal totaled 43 kills in eight sets this past weekend as WSU won road matches at Grand Valley State and Lake Superior State to secure the final top four seed.

She hit .381 (43-6-97) for the week, while also contributing 21 digs, six blocks (1 solo, 5 assisted) and two service aces.

VanderWal ranked fifth in GLIAC play with 245 kills and 3.29 kills per set, and sixth with 239.0 points. 

She recorded her 1,000th career kill in the victory at GVSU.

A 2021 AVCA All-Midwest Region Honorable Mention selection, VanderWal and her Warrior teammates begin post-season play at home on Wednesday, November 9th with a 7 p.m. match against Michigan Tech in the GLIAC Quarterfinals.
