Senkus, Munoz Claim GLIAC Weekly Honors

Senkus and Munoz have each earned GLIAC weekly honors twice this season.

DETROIT -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its weekly awards following week seven of the 2022-23 swimming & diving season, with Mikaela Senkus (Macomb, Mich. / Utica Academy for International Studies) earning Diver of the Week and Barbara Munoz (Yumbo, Colombia) claiming Swimmer of the Week recognition. 

Munoz was strong in a pair of meets against Northern Michigan and Findlay this past Friday (Nov. 4) and Saturday (Nov. 5).  On Friday, Munoz won the 50 free by posting a time of 24.14.  She would then finish second in the 650 free, touching the wall in a time of 6:43.86.  Swimming the fly portion of the 200 medley relay, Munoz helped the Warriors grab second place with a time of 1:47.91. 

The following day, Munoz was able to build on her strong performance from the day prior.  Early in the meet, Munoz was able to take first place in the 200 free, as she recorded a time of 1:55.66.  Following that, she won the 200 fly with a time of 2:07.10.  Later in the meet, she captured second place in the 100 fly by notching a time of 58.23.  In her lone relay appearance of the meet, Munoz swam the fly portion of the 400 medley relay.  She guided the Warriors to a second-place finish in that event with a time of 4:01.19.

In a pair of meets against Findlay and Northern Michigan this past weekend, Senkus was able to sweep all four of the diving events.  On Friday (Nov. 4), Senkus won the one-meter competition with a score of 271.70.  She then won the three-meter diving event with a score of 284.25. The following day, she continued her strong start to the season by dominating the field once again.  In the one-meter event, she topped the field with a score of 452.18.  She also won the three-meter competition with a score of 275.03.

The Warriors will hit the pool again at the Don Kimble Invitational, which is set to run from Nov. 18-20 in Kentwood, Mich.
