Men's Basketball Defeats Michigan-Dearborn

Harris leads four Warriors in double figures with 19 points.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's basketball team (3-4 overall) hosted the University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-12 overall) in a non-conference affair on Tuesday evening at the Wayne State Fieldhouse with the Warriors claiming a 93-41 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Wayne State had leads of 3-0 and 10-5, but each time the Wolverines rallied back to knot the score.  WSU scored eight of the next nine points with four different Warriors making baskets.  UMD pulled within four at 23-19 with 7:06 remaining before intermission as Jimmy Breaux split a pair from the charity stripe.  Freshman Carmelo Harris (Flint, Mich. / Beecher) connected from beyond the arc with just under six minutes left to reach double digits.  After a lay-up by Breaux made it 26-21, Wayne State ended the opening 20 minutes on an 18-3 run to lead 44-24 at the break.

Second Half
Michigan-Dearborn went nearly 11 minutes without a made field goal (3:29 left in the first half, until 12:32 left in the game) as WSU extended its lead to 69-25 on an offensive rebound and put-back by junior Kaimen Lennox (Kansas City, Mo. / Truman HS).  A Maurice Anderson lay-up ended the shooting drought for UMD.  The Warriors out-scored the visitors 34-14 over the final 12-plus minutes.
