DETROIT -- The Wayne State University dance team competed earlier this month at the 2022 Dance Team Union College Classic in Orlando, Fla. This was the first time since the 2019 championships, WSU was able to compete in person due to the pandemic.
WSU placed second in the Team Performance category, just 0.2 behind the national champion. The Team Performance routine consisted of a combination of jazz, pom, and hip hop.
The Warriors finished fifth in the very challenging Jazz category.
"The Wayne State Dance Team has worked very hard to make a name for themselves," remarked head coach Kaithin Fettes. "The performances at the national championship is the culmination of the dedication of the dancers, coaches and the supporters."
Tryouts for the 2022-23 Wayne State University Dance Team will take place in person on Sunday, May 15th. Registration is due by May 1st and can be found online at
