Fowlkes Selected GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

Warrior freshman cornerback had two interceptions vs UWL

DETROIT -- Wayne State University true freshman cornerback Elijah Fowlkes (Cleveland, Ohio / Cleveland Heights) has been selected GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for his two interception performance against Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Fowlkes returned his first interception 51 yards for a touchdown.  His other pick came in the end zone.  Fowlkes became the first Warriors with two interceptions in a game since Leon Eggleston had two vs. Ashland on Oct. 19, 2019.  Fowlkes also contributed seven tackles, including one for loss, against the Eagles.
For the season, Fowlkes leads the WSU secondary with 16 tackles (8 solo, 8 assisted), including 1.5 for loss (0.5 sacks) and four passes defended (two interceptions and two pass break-ups).  His two picks are tied for first in the league, while Fowlkes' 54 yards on interception returns leads the conference.
